ESSENCE OF BALI
In both Sanskrit and Bahasa Bali ‘Sari’ means ‘ Essence ’.
On this ride we truly take you through the ‘Essence of Island of Gods.’
and let you experience the authentic Bali
We start in the small little village Telamba, and from here we ride through the ‘Valley of oranges’ and Bali’s agriculture heart land. We take the small off road path and bring you to the bamboo forest, where you get a chance to discover the different types of bamboo and their significant importance for the Balinese culture and religion.
Hidden behind lush vegetation stands the ancient Hindu temple from the 10th century. Its uniqueness has called many Balinese and pilgrimages to meditate and show devotion.
Next, we will be invited to the family compound of Ketut in the traditional village of Penempahan. Here, in this relaxed atmosphere where time feels like it comes to a standstill, we will learn about the significance of Bali’s version of feng shui and how the placement and construction of traditional Balinese dwellings are determined.
At the UNESCO World Heritage site Tampaksiring we venture into fields of vibrant green and are introduced to the different aspects of rice farming.
The last part of our journey we cruise through beautiful small traditional villages and paddy fields.
Optional route is to join us on an off road adventure, where you follow the narrow rice paddies path, see the white herons taking off in look for left-overs from the harvest, the farmer turning the soil and getting ready for a new harvest.
All these things happening as the Devi Sri’s shrine stand in each paddy, receiving thankfully blessings every day, to remind us how precious Mother Earth and her constant givings.

During my yogaretreat at Bali I went on the bikeride through the rice fields of Bali. Yatra Tours took us to the villages that you would never find on your own and we got to come in contact with the people living there. Also we were informed about the culture and religion. The Waterfall hike was amazing. They took us to places in the djungle that was breathtaking. The tour ended in a village where Ingel served us a traditional Balinese lunch. Memories that I will keep in my heart for the rest of my life, so grateful.
I had such a beautiful morning riding through the Bali countryside, gliding through rice fields, stopping to take in the breathtaking views and learn about farming and local plants. The whole trip was extremely well organised and I felt well taken care of, allowing me to relax and enjoy the ride! The temple visit was incredibly special. Overall a unique way of seeing this amazing island. Morag
