The Northwest Cycling Trek
Today’s ride will take us to the northwest corner of Bali and the small traditional village of Manistutu.
Here you will be warmly welcomed and introduced to our family and friends, as many of our colleagues were born and raised in this little Balinese village.
The road zig- zags through Manistutu, with the stunning backdrop of Mt Gunung Merbuk and Mt Gunung Musi beckoning us to visit the Bendungan Bendel dam.
Here is where our bicycles await us. Once helmets and gloves are on and we have explained the instructions and gone through our safety check, we are ready to ride.
We’ll begin our trek by conquering a couple of hills. You will be well rewarded for your effort with a stunning view overlooking Gilimanuk Bay and the outlines of eastern Java’s coastal beaches further to the west. Once these hills have been summited, we’ll have the tingling anticipation of that exhilarating feeling you get when cycling downhill. Sometimes the speed is enough to take you straight over the next buckle, and sometimes you’ll need
to peddle just that little bit harder to reach the next peak.

For the most part the ride is downhill and requires an average fitness level.
There are a few inclines and the occasional challenging hill, so it is best if you are a comfortable rider who can maneuver different terrains.
The few climbs on the ride are optional and can be avoided with transfers.
A support van is always nearby to support you in case you prefer to step off or need a break.
There are a few inclines and the occasional challenging hill, so you need to be a comfortable rider who can maneuver different terrains.
On all our cycling trips a support vehicle accompanies the riders.
Any time you’d like to be transferred rather than ride the support van is always nearby.
With this high level of vehicle support you can confidently book a particular activity level knowing that there is back-up should you get tired.
Please wear athletic shoes for your ride.
We strongly recommend you not wear flip flops or sandals without strap
T-shirt or similar that covers the shoulders. The reason is that we will enter sacred areas.
Please apply plenty of sunscreen before the ride and protect your eyes with sunglasses.
Cap that fits under the helmet is a great way to protect the eyes.
Bring a change of cloths
You are welcome to bring a camera to document memories of the stunning vistas.
You may spot something along the way you would like to purchase, so be sure and have some pocket money.
