A true insight into Bali culture! and a unique opportunity to escape the usual tour group itineraries and to discover the real Bali.

We’ll depart from Ubud in the early morning, heading up-mountain to the village of Sekaan.

Our cycling will start in the shadow of Mount Batur with views looking out across the largest crater lake in Bali,

According to local legend, these landmarks were formed by the towering giant Kbo Iwo. This region is also the center for the ancient animistic religion, Bali Aga, practised by indigenous Balinese descendants and prehistoric settlers

Our scenic journey through this sacred mountain area, where we will find us passing through farmlands and centuries-old agricultural rice paddies in soft undulating formations and vibrant shades of green.

At the local traditional village of Sebatu, ‘stone rock’, we step off the bikes and make our way down the steps to enter the holy water and purification temple, Pura Dalem Pingit.

If you wish, we will guide you through the ritual of purification rites in this holy water which falls from a natural spring.

The Balinese believe that water is one of the forces of life and therefore has great healing effects and can bestow blessings if prayerfully acknowledged.

Then, Wayan will invite us to her small warung, ‘food stall’, overlooking the jungle where we will be served juice made from organic, locally grown tropical fruit and a Balinese snack.

Our journey then continues through the world’s most famous rice fields, Tegalalang. Rather than viewing the fields from a distance in a crowded touristic area, we will be actually riding on pathways through these incredible fields, gaining insight into the complex millennia-old irrigation system, or subak.
